I started\nlearning the guitar as a teenager, and have come back to it over and over\nagain ever since.</p>\n<p>Amongst the many different styles of western music, Jazz has that special\ncombination of characteristics: it emphasizes improvisation, while\nalso demanding technical excellence and a deep understanding of music from its players.</p>\n<p>I chose the ByJazz name as an analogy between Jazz bands\nand high performing agile teams.</p>\n<p>Similar to a great Jazz band improvising, a great team will know,\nunderstand and respect each team member's strength and weaknesses. They\nwill self organize in order to generate the most value relying on that\nknowledge. And when push comes to shove, they will improvise together in order to\nfind a solution to the problem at hand.</p>\n<p>In short then, both are examples of multi-disciplinary groups of people technically on\npoint and capable of improvising when the need arrises.</p>","excerpt":"I have been fascinated by music for as long as I can remember.
